It is not true that there are currently 30,000 people around the world studying using SIBI materials. What is the truth? There are more than 30,000 people around the world studying using SIBI materials through Sunset’s different kinds of schools and methods of delivering lessons. There is actually no way of knowing exactly how many Sunset students there are, so SIBI has always been conservative in estimating the number of students that are currently being taught at any given time.
Here are some facts regarding the number of SIBI students:
1. There are approximately 200 students studying at Sunset in Lubbock each year. This number would include those studying in our two-year residential program, AIM, SAIM, the deaf program, our satellite campuses in the Northwestern and Northeastern USA, mission teams and students, etc. While the number fluctuates from year to year, Sunset has been blessed with many who study in the SIBI Residential Studies Division.
2. There are more than 7,000 students studying through the SIBI External Studies Division. Through satellite schools across the USA, individual students studying via DVD or audio courses, online students from around the world and congregations using SIBI materials for teacher training and Bible classes.
3. There are approximately 3,000 students studying full-time in the SIBI International Studies Division. With 63 schools in 40 nations of the world, there is an ever increasing number of students studying SIBI materials in their own language and culture. In addition to these, there are more than 20,000 students who are currently auditing courses, taking regular courses part-time or taking courses by audio, DVD or on-line from these international training schools. One school in South America has more than 6,000 students studying by extension currently.
4. There are courses offered for free on the internet in several languages and printed materials that have been distributed all around the world to schools, congregations, preachers and Christians in their own language. It would be impossible to know how many are studying these materials. SIBI is publishing and distributing books and resources in many languages continually and seeking to impact an untold number of students through these materials. Rather than estimate the number, we have decided to not include them as students.
As you can see, 30,000 students is a conservative number. We hope that you will help this number to continue to grow.
